The COFP believes that family physicians can no longer afford to continue to provide free services to their patients. However, for most of us it is very difficult to reconcile the notion of caring for our patients’ health and asking them for money. Unfortunately, the reality of having to face the escalating costs of running our practices after 8 years of no raises and months of clawbacks, leaves many physicians no choice. We have enclosed a sample "annual fee / block fee " letter to help ease the transition family physicians must make in order to charge for uninsured services.
