Dear
Colleagues: March
28, 2005
It's
time for you to speak up!
TAKE
CHARGE OF YOUR PROFESSION AND FUTURE
- Some
of the fee increases of relevance to many physicians in
the proposed deal are subinflationary as they have been
for the past one to two decades.
- An
OMA official has made this comment on the new deal, “It
is not the saviour of medicine in Ontario. It will not make
up for 10-years of sub-inflationary changes. It will NOT
fix the doctor shortage.” We agree. Furthermore, without
statutory binding arbitration or independent arbitrative
resolution process , we are concerned that future negotiations
will not resolve the family practice crisis.
- A
“NO” vote is a vote of non-confidence in the OMA, and will
simply tell it to negiotiate a better deal. You will not
be alone, as the Specialist Coalition of Ontario has also
recommended a “NO” vote. Remember that the government
needs this deal to be accepted as much as we do to stabilize
the physician workforce. The government would be hard-pressed
to legislate any contract if you vote “NO”. They cannot
politically afford to make the doctor shortage in Ontario
even worse, knowing that many Ontarians are already unhappy
with the healthcare system.
MAKE YOUR VOICES HEARD. YOU HAVE LITTLE TO LOSE AND MUCH
TO GAIN.
Vote
Now!
