Our Mission - Organization Profile

The Coalition of Family Physicians of Ontario, representing front-line providers of health care, is a grassroots organization dedicated to the provision of top quality health care to the people of Ontario.  We strive to protect the rights, freedoms and independence of family physicians of Ontario and to continually improve the health care system.

Goals and Objectives

Goals:

  1. To advocate and promote on behalf of all residents of Ontario a high standard of medical care and a high standard of accessibility to all necessary medical services.
  2. To act as a unified voice in presenting the interests of family doctors in Ontario.
  3. To educate the public about the issues of accountability, accessibility, and availability of necessary medical services and the importance to adequate funding of the health care system.
  4. To participate in the restructuring of health care in Ontario.
  5. To ensure that family physicians of Ontario are fairly compensated for their services, based on their exposure to risk and responsibility.

Objectives:

  1. To participate in current and future negotiations with the government of Ontario.
  2. To address the following issues - clawbacks, fee blending, income gaps, and thresholds.
  3. To participate in and to provide input on health care restructuring, including but not limited to primary care reform, rostering, integrated delivery services, resource based relative value schedule.
